Random Things....

I really thought I would be much better about keeping up with this blog, but it just takes time to sit down and actually do this. Right now, the kids are asleep and I should be folding laundry and/or washing dishes, but I am putting my foot down and making myself do this. I have been making a list since my last post so I wouldn't forget things I wanted to write and so the kids would remember those things...
Ella Claire...I love her personality...she is her father's daughter. She has a wit about her that cracks me up. The other morning she woke up and she always likes to crawl in bed with her daddy while I shower and snoodle with him. I was finished with my shower and they were talking and she says..."This side of my nose isn't working..." We got tickled...what she meant was her nose was stopped up from a cold and she assumed it had just stopped working! Ella Claire is a girly girl. She loves to dress up and always asks where I "brought" this outfit...(bought). She loves it when I tell her if it used to be a friend of her's at church...we have a lot of hand-me-downs...Praise Jesus!!! The other day, I actually broke down and bought myself some new clothes and as we were getting out of the van at church she said...."Oh Mommy...I love your new shoes, they are so lovely!" Bless her...she is the sweetest! She is really starting to pick up her reading now. Carter has been reading really well for about 6 months, and she is catching up with him. She had a workbook I bought at the Dollar Store and it was all Sesame Street math...she worked on that book, by herselft for one hour at the kitchen table. She amazes me. I kept asking her if she wanted to play, but she was content with her crayons and her counting!
Now onto Carter....oh how I love my boy! He has the sweetest, most gentle spirit about him. When he was born, Lance and I both said we hoped he was a nice, sweet boy like our friend's Gina and Kelly's son Caleb. We've always admired how they raise their children and Caleb is so sweet and caring and we got our wish...so is our Carter...or as he calls himself..."just Carter." Carter can be very particular. Things have to always go in a certain order. Don't skip one word in a book because he can't let you continue until you've corrected your error. If we call him a silly nickname, he likes it at first, but then says..."no...I'm just Carter." Lance and I went to the beach last weekend. The first time in 2 years that we've left them. One of the many times we called to talk to them he got on the phone and we were talking and out of the blue he says.."Mommy, I need to say my scripture for you..." They both have scripture painted on their walls and he loves to recite his. I stood there and cried in the parking lot of Barefoot Landing at once again the sweetness of this boy of mine!
You haven't lived until you see Carter eat a jelly biscuit. He makes that thing look like gold. He savors every single morsel of that biscuit and always wants more. Another Carterism is "little bit, or big bit." If I say..."we're going to Grandmommy's and Paw Paw's." He always asks, "are we going to stay a big bit or a little bit?" He came up with this after many times of saying...we're going such and such for a just a little bit and he took off the little and added the big when he's going somewhere fun!
The other day at school was silly hair day. We had talked about it for a week or so to get them prepared because we know how Carter is with change of routine. Ella Claire was so excited...she had me put 6 pony tails in her hair with all different color ribbbons. I sent Carter into the bathroom with Lance and he came out with a faux hawk. It was adorable...and he was all smiles. The next thing we know, he is sitting on the steps and said he didn't feel good. We asked him what was wrong and he said he didn't want to go to school. I asked him what hurt and he said..."I just want regular hair." Again...I fell over laughing...I love him so. So, needless to say, Carter went to school with "regular hair."
We have been teaching the kids the Lord's Prayer as part of our family devotion time at night. A few weeks ago, Ella and I were sitting in the floor getting ready to read the Bible and Lance was in the bathroom across from their bedroom. Carter gets down on his knees beside his bed, folds his hands and says...."Our Father, who art in Heaven, hallowed be thy name....in liberty and justice for all." I couldn't help it but grab him and we all had a family bear hug...too cute. Ella Claire loves to say the blessing anytime we eat. She recites the one they say at snack time at school. I will type it as she says it...."Fold your hands and bow you heads, let's talk to Jesus now. God our Fader, God our Fader, we fank vee, we fank vee, for our many blessings, for our many blessings, a-amen, a-amen!" She is too precious.
If you've read this....you must really be bored, or really love our kids like we do. Their is a section at the bottom of each blog where you can comment if you would like.
Hopefully, I will do better at updating this for them. I will definitely put up their Halloween pictures after tomorrow.

A day in the life...

For those that have known us for a while...it always seems like the "crazy" stuff happens to us or the Greene side of my family. For example...on the twins first Halloween I was arrested...yes arrested for forgery. Turns out they had the wrong Leslie Greene, but I got booked, fingerprints, mug shot..the works...no trick or treat for me! Then two years ago, our home was broken into after Lance left that morning for his accountability group. A man kicked in our back door and I met him in the living room....I screamed, he ran...no harm done to us, but fear racked me for months. We moved into our new house this past February...a quite little neighborhood in Dallas. We love it here...but it turned out not to be as quiet as we had hoped. Monday night we all went out for a walk and our neighbor meets us on the street to say we better get back inside. There had been a robbery in Dallas and 5 men were on the loose and in our woods. Needless to say we get back home and almost immediately the helicopters are swarming our area. We look out and police cars in in our cul de sac. The helicopters are so close it sounds as if someone is cutting our grass. There was no way we could stay there and feel safe, so we packed up the van...loaded up the kids and camped out at my parents house. They ended up catching all the criminals by noon the next day and thank goodness no one was harmed...but ironically the policeman that responded to our old house break-in was the same cop that was in our driveway telling Lance what was going on in our backyard so to speak. It truly is NEVER dull at our house....just come hang out for a while!

Our very first BLOG!

So...being that Lance is a Computer Guru and knows all things "technology" we are just now entering the world of blogging. Neither Lance nor I have ever sent a text message, we don't have Ipods....just bare with us!!! I am creating this blog just as a way to journal for Ella Claire and Carter to remember funny little things that happens to our family and friends. Over the weekend, we all went to Carter's last soccer game of the season. He and his friend Daniel, were way more interested in playing tackle football with each other than actually playing soccer. Lance says all that matters is that his boy started the game for all 6 weeks of play. Each night we read a Bible story to the kids before bedtime. Friday night happened to be on the birth of Christ. One of the words for them to remember was womb...of course that brought up a myriad of questions from two curious 3 year olds. We explained what a womb was...in 3 year old terms. We explained that just girls have a womb and Carter wanted to know what he has and Lance rubbed his own beard and told Carter that one day he would have whiskers. So as sweet and innocent as ever...Carter rubs his face around his mouth and his eyes got big and he said.."I can feel them Mama." Well, I almost fell off the couch laughing at his sweet face! Our Ella Claire...she is truly a princess. She loves all things girly and enjoys dressing up...but especially with her cousin Megan. They are both such girly girls. She is a daddy's girl and would rather be on his lap than any other place on earth. Please check back...I'm not sure how often I will post, but at least this is a start!
